Fishing Report

SUBMITTED: 11-6-16

Lake Fork:
The Bass fishing was awesome this past week at Lake Fork. We boated anywhere from 35-75 Bass per day up to 8 lbs again and lots of Bass in the 2-4 lb range fishing in both deep and shallow water. These fish are fat and healthy and are putting up a great fight. Some days you might not get the fish to bite because of wrong location, weather etc., but make no mistake, Lake Fork is Full of Bass. Carolina Rigs worked great again this week but 1/4 oz Shakey Heads with Baby Brush Hogs and the Drop Shot Rigs produced the most Bass for me. The best colors for me were Watermelon and Red Bug. The cloud cover was great this past week and it kept the Bass biting just about all day long. If we don't receive any major cold fronts for a while, the Bass fishing will remain good with lots of action. Fall is a great time to be on the lake and we spotted several Bald Eagles on the lake this week as well. " What a beautiful bird." We posted a few more pictures on our Facebook page at lakeforkproguides.com Call me or text 214.236.3320 to book a trip to Lake Fork or email us at jjguides@hotmail.com.

At this time the water temperature is right at 72 degrees and the water level continues to slowly drop at 400.49 or - 2.21 off of full pool. The water clarity is clearing but still a little off color in some areas. Fishing is Good.

No Catfish report this week but the Crappie fishing is good with limits caught in 25-27 feet of water on both Jigs and Minnows. The Crappie are moving out to the bridges, points and humps and should continue to get even better as the water temperature drops due to the cooler nights. I have guides available and we furnish tackle and equipment at no charge and we clean and bag your fish to take home. We welcome group or individual fishing trip based on our availability. Again call or text 214.236.3320 or email jjguides@hotmail.com  "Crappie trips are fun for the entire family."

Once again another great week for us catching Bass here at Lake Fork and surrounding lakes. With the water temps in the lower 70's, the Bass are active and the fishing action has been great. I am finding Bass in both shallow and deep water right now and they are really feeding good and are getting ready for the Winter months not to far away. My largest Bass this past week weighed 8.1 lbs. along with a lot of 2-4 lbers. We started off early in the mornings trying top water baits and then quickly changed to small crank baits, c-rigs and drops shots. The best colors again were watermelon/red, green pumpkin and June bug. With the current weather pattern, look for the Bass fishing to continue to be good for several more weeks.

At the time of this report the surface temperature is 72 degrees and the water clarity is still off color in a lot of areas. The water level is 400.57 or 89% full. The lake is still dropping so start to watch out for stumps close to the boat runs.

The Crappie are still biting and it should only continue to get better as the water temperature continues to fall. Minnows and jigs are both working well but the jigs were working the best for us this week fishing in 23 feet of water over thick brush.

I have guides available for Bass, Crappie and Catfishing. We furnish all tackle and equipment at no extra cost and we clean your fish to take home at the end of the day. Call me or text at 214.236.3320 or email us at jjguides@hotmail.com to reserve a fishing trip today. With the holidays just ahead, a fishing trip would make a nice gift for someone.

The Bass fishing was very good for us this week at Lake Fork. Again we averaged 25-50 Bass per day and the largest Bass for the week weighed a little over 6 lbs. We fished a couple of other lakes as well this week and caught a lot of fat healthy Bass in the 3-5 lb range. Unless something happens due to a change in the weather, the Bass fishing is going to be good for some time now. We were able to catch a lot of very nice Bass using 1/4 oz Shakey Heads and C Rigs fishing Zoom Super Flukes and Baby Brush Hogs. The best color this week for us was Green Pumpkin and most of the larger fish were caught in 16 feet of water.

The water temperature was in the Mid 70's and it's just about perfect to get the fish active and aggressive chasing the bait fish. The water clarity was off color a little this week and was stained in some areas and clearing up in others. The water level today is 400.72 or 90% full and is still slowly falling.

The Crappie are still biting good when fishing over heavy brush in 21-24 feet of water and it's not to tough catching limit of Crappie right now. 1/4 oz. Jigs are working great!

The Cat fishing is doing good and should remain good until we start getting some hard cold fronts that will start dropping the water temperature.

I have guides that can put you on the Bass, Crappie or Catfish and right now is the time to go and enjoy this great Fall weather. Contact me to 214.236.3320 or email us at jjguides@hotmail.com to schedule a fishing trip today.

Until next report, good luck and great fishing !

Lake Fork: Another great week of Bass fishing here at Lake Fork and surrounding lakes. The fishing was great every day this past week as we boated anywhere from 25-85 Bass per day depending on where you were fishing. October has been a great month to catch some really nice Bass and the fishing should remain good if the weather condition don't cause us to many problems. The wind was some what of an issue on Saturday and Sunday but hopefully that will calm down. Once again this past week Small Crank Baits, Drop Shots, C Rigs and Shakey Heads produced most of my fish in 5-14 feet of water. Our largest Bass of the week was 7.5 lbs., but we did manage to boat a lot of nice 3-5 lbers as well. We have posted a few more pics on Facebook at lakeforkproguides.com.

The water level at Lake Fork is at 91.1 % full at the time of this report and is very slowly dropping. The water clarity is still a little stained in some areas but is clearing up all around the lake. The water temperature are in upper 70's to the low 80's and over all Lake Fork is in good fishing condition right now.

Previous Fishing report

The Bass fishing remained great this past week here at Lake Fork. Monday was a real good day of fishing but on Tuesday we boated between 40-45 Bass on Crank Baits and Texas rigged Baby Brush Hogs in less than ten feet of water. Some of these fish were solid 3-5 lbers and were fat and healthy fish. We found some areas this week that were jammed full of shad and the Bass were very active. The best times were from first light until about 11:30 and then again from 4:00 pm until about 7 pm. On Wednesday and Thursday we went to a couple of different lakes and each day we boated around 35-40 Bass by 11:00 am. These were also some really nice Bass that were caught on Drop Shot Rigs and Texas Rigs. The largest Bass of the week for us weighed 8.3 lbs.

The lake level at the time of this report is at 401.05 or 91.8 % full and slowly dropping. The water clarity is off color and it still looks like some areas of the lake are trying to turn over. Again, this did not effect the fishing this week.

The Crappie and Cat Fishing for us remained the same with some good fish being caught all week. All of our Crappie were caught using Jigs this week in 18-25 feet of water over heavy brush. A lot of the Crappie were nice size fish and we have posted some of these pictures on Facebook - J W Peterson Corp / J & J Guide Service. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lakeforkproguides If you want to take a lot of fish home to eat now is the time to get started.

Previous Fishing report

The Bass fishing was great this week here at Lake Fork. With the night time temperatures cooling down and the mild weather during the daytime, the Bass fishing continues to improve. I was able to boat anywhere from 20-25 solid Bass per day this week with the exception of Thursday when winds were high all day and it was hard to get to many of the areas where I had been catching fish. Our largest two Bass of the week were a 7 lber caught by Larry McDaniel from Heath TX and a personal best 9 lber caught by Mike Bye from Dallas. We caught all of our Bass on C Rigs, Drop Shots and Shallow diving Crank Baits in less than 8 feet of water. Pictures are on Facebook at J W Peterson Corp / J & J Guide Service or go to www.lakeforkproguides.com.

The water conditions are good but it does look like the lake is trying to turn over in some areas, but it has not effected the Bass or Crappie Fishing. The water temps that I saw this week fell into the upper 70's for the first time and they were back to the mid 80's during the middle of the day. The lake level is dropping a little each week now and is at 401.19 or 92% full at the time of this report.

The Crappie and Cat Fishing for us was again very good all week with numbers of Catfish and limits of Crappie caught just about every day. All of our Crappie were caught using Jigs this week in 18-25 feet of water over heavy brush. A lot of the Crappie were nice size fish and we have posted these pictures as well. If you want to take a lot of fish home to eat now is the time to get started.
